I'm Slack, I Know!!

So I've been a little slack, okay very slack when it comes to updating my post.....but I have a good reason.

When I started blogging all those months ago, my mind wasn't entirely in the game. I wanted it to be but I just couldn't get there. I started this weight loss journey like I have all of my previous attempts, full of enthusiasm, ready to pounce on the journey ahead, to make this attempt successful.
But as usual I lost motivation, I couldn't see anything for all my hard work, well what I thought was hard work....honestly I wasn't really trying at all, I still ate what I shouldn't, apart from going to the personal trainer once a week, I wasn't doing any other type of exercise.
I was fooling myself and in the process making myself believe that I had been trying so hard, yet the weight wouldn't come off, so then I got depressed and ate more. A nasty vicious cycle.

I don't know what it was but a week prior to Christmas something snapped in my head, honestly like a light bulb moment! I started eating when and what I should!
My personal trainer was nervous, as I had finally turned a corner but a big speed hump called Christmas break was ahead of me. But Christmas was the best speed hump ever!! As I took it head on as a challenge, I wasn't going to let this interfere with the progress I had finally made. I kept up with my eating habits and tried to introduce some light walking.
My first session back with the personal trainer, who I hadn't seen in two weeks was a nervous one, I was pretty sure I had behaved but those dam scales where going to speak the truth. Bingo!! I had lost 2.5kg, I thought my PT was going to knock me over when she came at me with a huge hug, she admitted that she thought I wouldn't be able to do it, she had pretty much worked herself up to give me a lecture as she was sure I would have put weight on. This was the most exhilarating experience and something that has helped drive me forward in this journey.

So to wrap it up, I am now 4 months on from Christmas break and I have lost a total of 17.2kg. I am so proud and can't wait to see where I go from here.

Stay tuned as I will be posting at the start of every month.

Sincerely Mrs E

Step One!

So I have been searching the internet for over a week trying to work out what "Diet" I wanted to follow....let me tell you straight up, I hate the word "Diet" for me it is the devil and I don't believe in it...I have been on and off "Diets" since I was in my early teenage years and they work for a little while and then I give up, mostly because of the lack of variety...

I've tried the soup diet...lots of soup...after a while you don't want to look at soup, not to mention all that cabbage and veggies, I spent most of the time on the toilet or listening to my family complain about my gas :) So I went back to eating what I shouldn't....

I've tried the protein shakes, which worked but I missed eating.....seriously....all I wanted to do was CHEW!

I will keep the liquid diets to when I am old, have no teeth and chewing becomes a task!

Back to the point of this entry, I was not looking for a diet I was looking for a change to the way I eat, that had variety, that wasn't a frozen meal, a meal replacement but real food and something easy to follow and fits into my lifestyle as I work full time, I run a business from home, a husband, family commitments...the list goes on....so I finally stumbled across Weight Watchers Online.

ProPoints sounds easy enough to follow, real food, recipes, support if I want it otherwise work at your own pace, set your own goals, I can download the app for my phone to look up items for dining out or check items while I am shopping.....so I took up the recent offer which is for 3 months and I will be out of pocket $5.30 a week...which I thought was very reasonable....I better say that I am not paid for my opinion nor do I work for Weight Watchers, I say it as I see it!

I will be kicking off the new meal plan on Monday 9th September, until then I better eat all the chocolate, chips & biscuits currently residing in my pantry!

Now on to my next trick....Step Two - My Exercise regime....I will keep you posted!

Sincerely Mrs E

The Journey Begins!

Okay so here goes....I have never blogged before so please bear with me...I am writing this blog as a journal of my journey to becoming pregnant!

This may sound a little self indulgent but you have to understand that this is a journey that begins with major weight loss...I am not going to tell you how much I weigh but I will say I have a whopping 50kgs to lose in order to even contemplate having a baby.

Not only am I doing it for my health but that of our unborn child. I want to be hands on with our kids, I don't want to be unable to bend down and play or be out of breathe and unable to keep up with them.

Also heart conditions & high blood pressure are in both sides of my family tree, so not only do I want to be able to have children I also want to be around to watch them grow up....this means I need to lose weight.

So this is my promise to myself and anyone else reading this blog, this is the heaviest weight I will ever be for the rest of my life, there is going to be bumps in the road and I am sure I will give in to temptation (otherwise known as chocolate) but I promise when I fall down I will get back up, dust myself off and proceed on down the road of weight loss.

Sincerely Mrs E!
